The Pyrenees Route

New Page 1

This route runs through some of northern Spain's national parks and nature reserves, visiting innumerable spots rich in beauty and a historic past.

The route includes the following Paradores:

Seu D' Urgell: First day

Forests, rivers and mountains await you, scenery which will surely surprise you, places full of great natural beauty. In Seu you can explore Santa Maria d'Urgell Cathedral and the Diocesan Museum. Another must-see is Canonges Street, with its arcades and shops. The Segre Olympic Park in Seu is just the place for sports and recreation, offering sports such as pirogue canoeing and rafting in facilities which were used for the 1992 Olympic Games, and which are still vibrant and busy today. The Cadí-Moixero Nature Reserve offers unsurpassed beauty, allowing you to discover this region’s natural resources on foot.

Vielha: Second day

Along our journey from Seu to Vielha you will discover the beauty of the Pyrenees. In the Arán Valley, we recommend the Romanesque Route, allowing you to explore such places as Bossòst, with its Era Mair de Diu dera Purificación Church; Salardú, with Sant Andrèu Church; and Arties, with Santa Maria Church. Aigüestortes and Estany de Sant Maurice National Park is so incredibly beautiful and majestic that its ability to surprise visitors knows no limits. Any season of the year, the national park offers you all the immense beauty of nature. Another must-see is the spa at the Parador itself, where you can incorporate time for rest and relaxation into your trip.

Bielsa: Third day

If you have ever imagined a place where nature would find its utmost expression, where you could feel that being on this planet is really something truly magical, imagine no more! You will find it here at the Parador de Bielsa. The Parador is located near the entrance to Ordesa y Monte Perdido National Park, which has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Here winter, autumn, spring and summer all offer you unforgettable moments, colors, aromas, and scenery to carry away with you forever. We also recommend a visit to the Ethnological Museum in Bielsa, or the nearby town of Ainsa (main square, castle, Sta. María Church).
